Why does the receptionist need to ask you what's wrong?
We are currently receiving very high demand on appointments so to ensure you are able to get the right appointment for your condition, our team of trained receptionists will need to ask you for a little information. This will help us ensure you see the most appropriate member of the practice team as quickly as possible and with the least delay. Please share this information with them - it's entirely confidential and the majority of our patients are happy to do so. Thank you for understanding.

Prescription Medicines Order Line
We have been asked to pilot a new prescription service by NHS England to support our patients. This service will start on 12th February 2018.
The NHS Prescription Medicines Order Line service is:
- The easy way for you to order your repeat prescription.
- All it takes is a simple phone call that you can make from the comfort of your own home.
- Your prescription can then be sent electronically to a nominated pharmacy of your choice or collected from your GP practice if preferred.
Please call 0115 855 0260 (local rate number) to use this service.
Why use this new service?
- Ordering your repeat prescription will be a quick and simple telephone call.
- You will be speaking to a dedicated person who will have time to answer any queries you may have about your repeat prescription.
- We will discuss your medication requirements and are able to alert you if a medication review is needed.
Why are we offering this new service?
- Our aim is to ensure that patients receive the correct quantity of medication needed, in a timely manner, to reduce the amount of medication waste.
- Unused prescription medicines cost the NHS in Derbyshire over £6 million every year.
- Only ordering what you need, when you need it, will save the NHS money to spend on other important services.

Building Work Update January 2018
The practice is going through three phases of building work. The second phase which will see our ground floor extended is now underway. This will be finished by April 2018 and will give us 4 new clinical rooms.
We are a rapidly growing practice, accommodating all new patients from within our practice boundary and the new housing developments.

March 2017 Update
It’s been a while since we have delivered a newsletter, relying on the website and in house practice media screens for updates. However, we are using this edition to highlight the changes that are happening within the practice.
The practice has welcomed the following new members to our team;

The practice is going through three phases of building work. The first phase is underway. This is maximising our current existing space to accommodate more consulting rooms, a new reception area, and a new waiting area.
The second phase will see building of new rooms on the ground floor and the third phase will be building more rooms upstairs. We are a rapidly growing practice, accommodating all new patients from within our practice boundary and the new housing developments.
The practice has bought a new system, this system will have a hosted service, let you know where you are in the queue, have options to make appointments, speak to the secretaries about your referral and to the admin team about records and report requests and general enquires without having to wait in the same queue. We understand this has been a frustrating problem for patients and our staff and appreciate all your patience while we put this in place in line with the building work.
Do you care for a family member or friend? Sinfin Carers Group is there to support you. The group usually meets every Wednesday between 2 and 3.30 pm at:
Sinfin Community Centre, 50 Swallowdale Road, Sinfin, DE24 9NT.
You can meet with other carers, have a cup of tea, perhaps try out an activity - they include Yoga, meditation, crafts, massage, and others are planned.

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) Committee will meet at Hollybrook Medical Centre on Thursday 6 April 6-8 pm and Thursday 4 May, the same time. You are most welcome to come along and see what we do.
Appointments are precious
Patients who fail to attend appointments and do not cancel is a growing concern for the practice as this impacts on appointment availability for other patients. We urge patients to kindly cancel appointments they are unable to attend so these can be used for others and GP and nurse time is not wasted.
The total number of appointments wasted in December was 161 appointments for nurses and 94 for GP’s.
Although there may be a good reason that you are unable to attend, all we ask is that if you no longer require an appointment you have booked, that you please cancel it. Even at short notice we can usually ensure that the appointment is used by another patient.

Did you know you can now book and cancel appointments on-line, using the link on our website www.hollybrookmedicalcentre.co.uk
To use this service you will need to register in person at either Hollybrook or Sinfin. Just ask at reception and we will give you your username and password.
Once you have your username and password you will be able to book an appointment with one of our Doctors up to 2 weeks in advance. You will also be able to cancel Doctors and Nurses appointments and order your prescriptions. The website also is updated to share news and new health initiatives.
